Flashback Friday is a weekly section on Barbell Dancer, where I look back at an event in my past and reflect on why it holds sure precious memories or what it means to me as an individual.
Dinner on the M. V. Mary Ann
Thursday, 19 May 2016
My father worked for roughly eighteen months as the finance manager for a trucking company based in Echuca/Moama . He lived in Echuca during the week and came back to Melbourne for weekends, and I took a week off in May to go and spend it in Echuca with him.
This photo was taken aboard the M. V. Mary Ann, a luxury river cruiser that offers fine dining with a difference. A full menu, on-board chefs and an excellent cocktail selection are all on offer, and soft, acoustic covers of all the latest hits provide a soothing backdrop as you munch your way through three, delicious courses: entree, main and desert.
So what's special about this photo, other than that I got to have dinner out on a boat with my dad? Well, this was one of the first experiences I did with someone else where I actually found and planned it myself, as a surprise. Dad knew we were going out, but when I walked him to the boat dock and told him we were going to have dinner on the river, he was beyond thrilled. It gave me a warm little glow to know that I'd made him so happy.
Also, forgive my moment of vanity, but my kicks just look awesome in this picture.
